Vastu Day, Vastu Puja & Groundbreaking Ceremony – Important Explanation

Vastu Day is considered the auspicious day when Vastu Bhagavan awakens. Before starting the construction of a new house, office, or building, performing Bhoomi Puja, Vastu Puja, and the Groundbreaking Ceremony on this day is highly auspicious.

Vastu Day, Vastu Puja & The beginning of a new construction Ceremony

Vastu Day is celebrated as the sacred day when Vastu Bhagavan awakens, making it an ideal time to begin new construction. By performing Bhoomi Puja, Vastu Puja, and the House Construction Beginning Ceremony on this day, one seeks the grace and protection of Vastu energies for a prosperous home, office, or building.

Importance of Vastu Puja

  • To balance all directions of the new place—Northeast (Ishanya), Southeast (Agneya), Southwest (Nairuthi), and Northwest (Vayavya).
  • To harmonize the five elements (Pancha Bhootas) — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space.
  • To invite divine and positive energies into the space and remove any Vastu defects (Vastu Doshas).
  • To enhance the peace of mind, health, prosperity, and overall well-being of the residents or employees.

How to Choose an Auspicious Day for
Vastu Puja?

Vastu Day is chosen with great care by analysing multiple astrological and Vastu factors to ensure maximum harmony, prosperity, and success in construction. The key considerations include:

  • Owner’s Rashi and Nakshatra – To select a day that aligns with the owner’s personal energy and destiny.
  • Tithi, Weekday, and Lagna – These time elements must be auspicious and supportive for beginning construction or performing Vastu Puja.
  • Direction of the Plot or House – Each facing direction has specific rules in Vastu, influencing the choice of the right day and time.
  • Whether the Building Layout Follows Vastu Principles – Ensures that the structure supports health, wealth, and overall well-being.
  • Position and Monthly Movement of Vastu Purusha – The head and body orientation of Vastu Purusha changes every Tamil month, guiding which side of the land should be touched first.

Auspicious Tamil Months for Vastu Puja

Tamil months are based on the movement of the Sun through the 12 rasis, and each month is named according to the Poornima (Full Moon) that occurs in a particular Nakshatra. The head direction of the Vastu Purusha also changes with every Tamil month.

Because of this, selecting the correct Tamil month is very important for Vastu Day, Vastu Pooja, and especially for planning new construction.

Tamil months also reflect the seasonal conditions, which helps determine the most suitable time to begin building work. Knowing the month also guides us on which part of the land should be Excavated  first, based on the Vastu Purusha’s head position.
